This post features 15 photos from the final of the 2018 Western & Southern Open between Simona Halep and Kiki Bertens where Bertens saved a Championship point to win in three sets. A big thanks to Omar Boraby for sharing his photos with Moo’s Tennis Blog this week! ICYMI, picture galleries are up on the blog for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. You can check out Omar’s official website HERE and his Twitter page HERE. Continue on for the last shots from finals day…

Kiki Bertens on the run during Sunday’s Cincy final.

Halep in full flight in what was her 10th match in 11 days.

A nice moment between Bertens and her coach, Raemon Sluiter.

Halep was superb in the first set, landing a high percentage of first serves and dictating with her forehand.

Love this shot!

Flying tennis racquets! There were frustrating moments for both players.

After failing to convert on a Championship point in the second set tiebreak, Halep clearly tired in the third set. It was a tough day for Simona but there were still some smiles 🙂. An exceptional effort over these past two weeks.

The winning moment! Bertens win her biggest title in Cincy with a 2-6 7-6(6) 6-2 victory.

A nice moment between Bertens and Halep at the net.

Happy tears for Kiki!

Bertens receives her trophy 🏆.

A closing shot from the Cincy trophy ceremony. That’s a wrap on Cincy 2018! Thanks so much to Omar for sharing all his photos! 🙂

  1. I didn’t realize that the USO Qualies start tomorrow

  2. Bertens has pulled out of NH.
I turned the Bertens vs Kontaveit match on, and no Bertens. LL Parmentier has replaced Bertens.

    • Not surprised. I watched Bencic-Giorgi last night. BB was good, served well and generally handled Giorgi’s pace. I feel like it happens a lot where a lucky loser comes in and does well in the main draw. Perhaps just me.

  3. USO Qualies
Ek Gorgodze def Caty McNally 0-6,7-5,6-2
Gorgodze was down 0-6, 1-5 and survived 3 MPs and won the match!!!
The 26 y/o Gor won her last 2 ITF events including beating Siegemund in the final on clay in Germany.
Caty McNally is a 16 y/o that lost in the FO girls final and got to the QFs in Wimbledon girls.(May have had a case of nerves).

  4. Thought I’d mention this; a fun video on the subject of the serve clock being intruduced into the US Open, with Jule Georges, Aga Radanska, Caroline Garcia, Petra Kvitova, Daria Gav, Karo Pliskova and CoCo Vandey much in evidence;

  5. USO Qualies
Bouchard def Gorgodze 6-1,6-2 the score is closer than the match.
Gorgodze looked like a 200th ranked player, so how did she beat Siegemund on clay?

    Moms on the march
Patty Schnyder and Vera Zvonareva won their 2nd round matches
Unfortunately mom of 2, Brodsky lost.

  6. Jesus at that top quarter of the women’s US Open draw! I mean…Halep, Serena, Venus, Kuznetsova and Muguruza all in one section. And Kai Kanepi is a potential tough opener for Simona!
