Ekaterina Makarova vs. Angelique Kerber was one of the most dramatic matches of the year – this was Makarova’s reaction after an incredible rally on match point at 6-5 in the 3rd set tiebreak.
Pain and frustration soon turned to relief and joy for Makarova – on her 8th match point she won, 6-4 1-6 7-6(11).
Not to be for Alizé Cornet – she went down in straights to Dominika Cibulkova.
