I’ll be switching my focus from Birmingham to Eastbourne now as the 2015 Aegon International is set to begin. I’m heading down to Eastbourne on Saturday, a little croaky and sniffly (sorry to anyone who has to sit next to me), ready for three full days of live grass court tennis. Eastbourne is my favourite tournament to attend; access to the courts and players is second to none, at least at the events i’ve been lucky enough to attend, and it’s always a relaxed environment to enjoy tennis. In four previous years, i’ve been very lucky with the weather although the forecast is now NOT looking set fair! Monday looks ghastly…
Eastbourne has another superb line-up this year with the likes of Petra Kvitova, Caroline Wozniacki, Lucie Safarova, Eugenie Bouchard, Ekaterina Makarova, Andrea Petkovic, Carla Suarez Navarro, Agnieszka Radwanska and Madison Keys all set to be in the draw. The only high profile player to have withdrawn from the original entry list is Timea Bacsinszky. I’m gutted about this though as Timea was top of my list of players I wanted to see! I hope Timea’s OK as she will play no competitive matches on grass beofre Wimbledon.
Qualifying action begins on Saturday with the schedule spearheaded by the return of Laura Robson who has drawn the number one seed, Daria Gavrilova. I’m probably going to miss that match, but i’m still planning to make it to Devonshire Park later on in the afternoon once i’ve checked into my hotel. The last three matches of the day all sound interesting…
For the next few days, depending on the quality of my hotel wi-fi (!), i’ll be posting live from Eastbourne with the intention of making you feel like you are at the tournament. If there’s any players that you would like photos of, then please let me know! Stay tuned…
Have fun James, nice to see Laura Robson return to tennis, after her wrist surgery which took a long time to heal.

Shame she landed Gavrilova first up! Though Daria’s game isn’t the best suited to grass and that might help Robson.
