If you haven’t seen the latest video offering from the Family Circle Cup then do watch the behind-the-scenes video featuring Andrea Petkovic and Jelena Jankovic.  I think this will be my go to video when i’m feeling low! The pair could have met in the quarter-finals, but Jankovic was forced to pull out of her third round match against Danka Kovinic with a foot injury.  It’s such a shame for the tournament.  On Thursday, Petkovic won through in the day session with a 6-4 6-4 victory against the tenacious, Madison Brengle.  Petkovic is a completely different player from the one that started the year.  Apart from a couple of loose games at the end of the second set, Petkovic was very convincing and made very few errors.  Her Fed Cup heroics definitely seemed to have given her a boost of confidence in the last month or two and in my opinion, she is looking like the most likely winner in Charleston.

Petkovic up against Kovinic should be a very interesting match.  Kovinic has had a great week with wins over Christina McHale and Belinda Bencic.  She was probably just as gutted as everyone else not getting the chance to play her “mentor”, Jelena.  She has played some really dynamic tennis this week but i’d fancy Petkovic, who has a habit of motoring once she gets through first few matches in a tournament, to prevail in straight sets.
