US Open: Mens 3rd Round Predictions for Day 7

The Top 3 on Day 7
Lleyton Hewitt
1. Lleyton Hewitt v David Ferrer
Lleyton Hewitt continues to fly the flag for Australia and his five set epic win over Giles Muller in the second round should be the first port of call for Bernard Tomic, who was pretty disgraceful in his second round loss to Roddick.  Hewitt now faces his biggest challenge against the 4th seed, David Ferrer.  The Spaniard has won his opening matches in straight sets although did survive an epic third set tiebreak in his second round match with Igor Sijsling.  The pair have not played since the 2008 French Open where Ferrer won in five sets.  Ferrer should win this in straight sets but Lleyton’s grittiness will likely win him a set…
Prediction – Ferrer to beat Hewitt in 4 sets
2. John Isner v Philipp Kohlschreiber
John Isner gets his first night match of the Open and it could be a dangerous one against the crafty German, Philipp Kohlschreiber.  Isner won his first two matches in four sets against Xavier Malisse and Jarkko Nieminen, meanwhile Kohlschreiber was forced to fight hard in a five set second rounder against Benoit Paire.  Isner has a surprisingly good 3-0 record over Kohlschreiber including two wins in 2012 and I think he will step it up tonight and storm into the 4th round…
Prediction – Isner to beat Kohlschreiber in 3 sets
3. Andy Roddick v Fabio Fognini
Andy Roddick was in sparkling form in his second round win over the disappointing Bernard Tomic, 6-3 6-4 6-0.  Roddick announced in his a press conference a few days ago that this will be his last tournament of his career, which adds extra weight to each of his matches as it could be his last! Fabio Fognini has the potential to be the villain in this one, but I think Roddick will get at least get one more shot and that should be a night match against Juan Martin Del Potro… come on Andy, keep it going!
Prediction – Roddick to beat Fognini in 4 sets
Best of the rest: Predictions
Janko Tipsarevic to beat Grega Zemlja in 3 sets
Richard Gasquet to beat Steve Johnson in 3 sets
Juan Martin Del Potro to beat Leonardo Mayer in 3 sets
Stanislas Wawrinka to beat Alexandr Dolgopolov in 5 sets
Novak Djokovic to beat Julien Benneteau in 3 sets
