WTA Miami 2016 Predictions

WTA Miami R4 Predictions for Monday

S.Williams d. Kuznetsova in 2 sets – Preview HERE

Svitolina d. Makarova in 3 sets – All common sense points to Makarova who hasn’t dropped a set in their three previous matches. If Svitolina can learn from their previous encounters and be more aggressive/not just sit back, she might have a shot.

Radwanska-Bacsinszky – I honestly can’t decide but thoughts about the match HERE

Halep d. Watson in 2 sets – Impressed with Watson’s fighting spirit against Wickmayer but Halep looks in decent form right now

Konta d. Niculescu in 2 sets – Just a feeling that Konta will be able to deal with Niculescu’s game, particularly if she serves well

Muguruza d. Azarenka in 3 sets – Preview HERE

Keys d. Begu in 3 sets – Keys still makes me nervous but she played great against Vinci.

Kerber d. Babos in 2 sets – Hmmm, I wouldn’t be surprised if Babos got herself into a winning position, but I would be very surprised if she wins this

WTA Miami R3 Predictions for Sunday

Vandeweghe d. Niculescu in 3 sets – This match-up makes me laugh! I wouldn’t be surprised if CoCo barely won a game but equally, if she’s playing well, then she will fly through it. I’m going somewhere in the middle. Niculescu could be a right handful on this court.

Konta d. Vesnina in 3 sets – Both played some super tennis in their second round matches. Leaning towards Konta who served especially well against Kovinic.

Azarenka d. Linette in 2 sets – Don’t anticipate any issues for Azarenka

Muguruza d. Gibbs in 3 sets – Preview HERE

Vinci d. Keys in 2 sets – Fascinating match-up, wish I had written a preview but missed both their matches on a hectic Friday night. A small question mark as to Vinci’s fitness after a long match against Hradecka and the ankle injury she had in IW. Vinci won both their previous matches with a 6-3 6-3 scoreline. Going two sets again for Vinci, but could be an opportunity for Keys if she serves well and Vinci’s not up for it physically.

Osaka d. Babos in 3 sets – Preview HERE

Kerber d. Bertens in 2 sets – Contemplated three sets because Bertens has been in great form this year, but going for Kerbs in two, with at least one tight set.

WTA Miami R3 Predictions for Saturday

S.Williams d. Diyas in 2 sets – *Should* be straightforward for Serena

Kuznetsova-Garcia – Literally no idea haha

Svitolina d. Wozniacki in 3 sets – Preview HERE

Makarova d. Kvitova in 2 sets – Hate doing this but a feeling Makarova might come out of nowhere with a win here. Kvitova flew through her first match but the humidity in Miami is always a problem.

Radwanska d. Brengle in 2 sets – Brengle can be tricky and Radwanska has more strapping this week… going for Aga in two with at least one tight sets.

Bacsinszky d. Ivanovic in 3 sets – Hmmm another tough one but I like Timea in this one, I think she’s in a good place right now. Ivanovic wasn’t that convincing in her victory over Pereira despite the one-sided scoreline.

Watson d. Wickmayer in 3 sets – Wickmayer leads the H2H, 3-0 but i’m leaning towards Watson?

Halep d. Goerges in 2 sets – Two tight sets i’d say, Goerges had a noteworthy win over Stosur but Halep has been steady in the last month.

WTA Miami R2 Predictions for Friday

Suárez Navarro d. Vandeweghe in 3 sets – First match for CSN since winning Doha and injuring her ankle in IW. Tough one against Vandeweghe who is so good when on, but then also on occasion, can have a shocker. I’d take CSN after a slow start.

Niculescu d. Peng in 2 sets – All four of their previous matches have gone the distance. Awesome to see Peng win a match but Niculescu will be tough to beat so early in her comeback.

Konta d. Kovinic in 3 sets – Very interesting match, Kovinic won their last match in Budapest back in 2013. An upset alert but giving benefit of the doubt to Konta.

V.Williams d. Vesnina in 3 sets – Another upset alert, Vesnina has won twice before in this match-up. I think Venus will battle through…

Azarenka d. Puig in 2 sets – Perhaps a tight set in there, but expecting Azarenka in straights

Jankovic d. Linette in 3 sets – This sounds like a typical match where JJ could struggle!

Gibbs d. Mladenovic in 3 sets – Mladenovic won when they last met at the Australian Open, but their respective form since then has gone in opposite directions. Gibbs has been thriving and if she can get enough looks on the Mlads serve, fancy her to take this.

Cibulkova d. Muguruza in 3 sets – Preview HERE

Bencic d. Kr. Pliskova in 3 sets – Don’t like this match-up for BB! Dangerous for sure…

Flipkens d. Keys in 3 sets – Hmmm I feel like Flipkens could frustrate Keys in this one. Madi will to have play a super patient match to prevail.

Vinci d. Hradecka in 2 sets – If Vinci is up for this and over the injury she picked up in IW, I think she wins this one. Has a 4-0 H2H lead over Hradecka…

Osaka d. Errani in 2 sets – Just a feeling with this one that Osaka will have the game to hit through Errani. Perhaps, it’s another time where i’m underestimating Sara but going with instinct!

Pliskova d. Babos in 2 sets – Pliskova leads the H2H, 3-0 and I don’t see it changing much in this one

Kerber d. Strycova in 3 sets – Preview HERE

WTA Miami R2 Predictions for Thursday

S.Williams d. McHale in 2 sets – I would guess straightforward for Serena

Gavrilova d. Diyas in 3 sets – Diyas flew through her opener, while Gavrilova at least got over the disappointment of wasting a lead in her first match in IW with two wins at the $125k in San Antonio. Could go either away, sticking with Gavs.

Petkovic d. Garcia in 3 sets – Garcia won their last match and it’s another tough opener for Petkovic, but I think conditions will suit her and she will find a way through.

Kuznetsova d. Witthoeft in 2 sets – Like Kuznetsova on this surface and in this match-up

Svitolina d. Zhang in 3 sets – Preview HERE

Wozniacki d. King in 2 sets – Never know with Caro but on paper, this is a good first match

Makarova d. Tsurenko in 2 sets – Wavered between two and three sets but going for Makarova in two tight

Kvitova d. Falconi in 3 sets – Fancy this to be a struggle for Petra

Radwanska d. Cornet in 2 sets – Great to see Cornet back… despite the Frenchwoman having some success in this match-up, going for Radwanska

Brengle d. Schmiedlova in 3 sets – Tough one, almost tempted to go for Schmiedlova to win a match but Brengle can be tough to break down and that might be an issue for Schmieds who has been so erratic of late.

Gasparyan d. Bacsinszky in 3 sets – Originally went Bacsinszky but just a nagging feeling that Gasparyan might nick this one… been knocking on the door for a while.

Ivanovic d. Pereira in 2 sets – Ideal opener for Ivanovic

Stephens d. Watson in 3 sets – Another tough opener for Stephens, particularly with Watson leading the H2H, 4-2. Going for Sloane though…

Stosur d. Goerges in 3 sets – On the fence, could go either way

Halep d. Kasatkina in 3 sets – Preview HERE

WTA Miami R1 Predictions for Wednesday

McHale d. Doi in 2 sets – Doi just won a 125k tournament in San Antonio, but McHale leads the head-to-head, 4-0

Bouchard d. Hradecka in 2 sets – I like Bouchard in this match-up, she won their last match in IW last year, 6-2 6-2

Puig d. Bellis in 3 sets – Interesting match and nice for Bellis to get the night session on Stadium. Fancy it could be close.

Garcia d. Lucic-Baroni in 2 sets – Both big hitters, both erratic,Garcia showed a couple of encouraging signs this year

Watson d. Cetkovska in 3 sets – Cetkovska was destroyed by Allertova last week but should have a chance at least to work her way into this one.

Vandeweghe d. Crawford in 2 sets – Struggling to decide between two and three sets, i’m thinking Vandweghe but Crawford can be dangerous.

Schiavone d. Falconi in 3 sets – Favouring the qualifier in this one

Cibulkova d. Larsson in 2 sets – Cibulkova needed three sets when they played in Acapulco recently, will go for the straight setter this time

Pliskova d. Badosa Gibert in 3 sets – Intrigued to see how Badosa Gibert, French Open juniors champ from last year, gets on.

Cornet d. Voskoboeva in 3 sets – Voskoboeva showed some promising signs against Watson in IW and may have a chance with Cornet playing her first match since AO

Linette d. Mattek-Sands in 3 sets – BMS struggling this year, Linette sounded decent in qualifying

Osaka d. Parmentier in 2 sets – Good draw for Osaka, beat Parmentier in Brisbane earlier this year

Sakkari d. Begu in 3 sets – Begu’s struggling to get going due to recent injuries, Sakkari has looked good this year

Babos d. Tatishvili in 2 sets – A chance for Babos to get back on track

Goerges d. Hibino in 2 sets – I think Goerges? Surface probably favours Hibino more but her form has been disappointing of late

Wickmayer d. Knapp in 2 sets – First match back for Knapp.

Sasnovich d. Witthoeft in 3 sets – Sasnovich won their only previous match, has confidence from qualifying and not been that impressed with Witthoeft from recent viewing.

WTA Miami R1 Predictions for Tuesday

Brengle d. Giorgi in 3 sets – A tough one and as always, will most likely come down to Giorgi. I’m leaning towards Brengle on this slow court but with their head-to-head at 2-2, it really could go either way.

Putintseva d. Gibbs in 3 sets – this is THE ONE that I just cannot call! I feel like Gibbs should win, but then something’s telling me Poots, with perhaps a touch more variety, might get the win.

Flipkens d. Robson in 2 sets – Great to see Robson playing again, Flipkens has been in decent form of late

Kasatkina d. Bondarenko in 3 sets – Could see this one going either way

Strycova d. Friedsam in 2 sets – Both in good form, but I like Strycova in two tight, presuming she is over the virus that forced her to pull out of IW

Gasparyan d. Beck in 2 sets – Much prefer the line-up of R1 matches in Miami compared to IW… another good win and feel decisive in this one.

Allertova d. Kovinic in 3 sets – I really like both players but Allertova has the game to hit through slow surfaces so it will likely come down to the Czech player.

Zhang d. Zhuk in 2 sets – If it’s streamed, hoping to catch some of Zhuk for the first time!

Tsurenko d. Dulgheru in 2 sets – Tsurenko won her first matches of the year in IW, while Dulgheru has won just three games in her last two matches

Van Uytvanck d. Peng in 2 sets – Peng struggled last week in her first singles match back so hope she can improve. AVU *should* prevail…

Diyas d. Govortsova in 3 sets – On the fence
