Oops… since I left the tournament, it’s all been red. Still, I won the Draw Challenge game for the first time! I think i’ve peaked too early for Wimby though.
WTA Eastbourne Final Prediction for Friday
Pliskova d. Cibulkova in 3 sets – Should be a good one, Pliskova’s ability to get out of trouble on serve is what’s giving her the edge for me.
WTA Eastbourne QF Predictions for Thursday
Mladenovic d. Puig in 3 sets – Tough one, could see this going either way. Instinct was Mladenovic with the big serve and plenty of variety but Puig’s serving figures have been great this week. I think Mladenovic has more assets to her game but it’s whether she can utilise them effectively. Puig’s played a lot of tennis during this grass court season so that would probably be the clincher for me.
Radwanska d. Cibulkova in 3 sets – This will be an interesting one on grass, I think Radwanska takes it.
WTA Eastbourne R3 Predictions for Wednesday
Wozniacki d. Puig in 3 sets – Been an excellent week for both players and will try to watch this match as I missed both of their R2 matches. I think Puig will have to peak to beat Woz, but the Dane will still be vulnerable. Going for Woz though…
Radwanska d. Bouchard in 3 sets – Interesting one! Again, didn’t watch either of their matches. By all accounts, Bouchard has been great and she sounded very content in press. I’d fancy this to go the distance but I think it will take a stunning performance from Bouchard to win the match. I’m not quite sure if she’s there yet…
Konta d. Kvitova in 2 sets – Sticking with my Draw Challenge, I like Konta in Eastbourne and it sounded like in press that Kvitova was really not 100% with her leg despite it being “better”..
Petkovic d. Makarova in 3 sets – Petkovic owns the H2H with four consecutive victories but Makarova is the far more accomplished player on grass. Petkovic may be tired but will no doubt have taken great heart from back-to-back three set wins.
Cibulkova d. Bondarenko in 2 sets – Tight sets i’d guess, Bondarenko had a tough day yesterday and Cibulkova played a pretty good match all-round against Ostapenko.
Mladenovic d. Friedsam in 2 sets – I think Friedsam will be struggling today after a gruelling Tuesday, she kept feeling her shoulder yesterday. Mladenovic was great against Bacsinszky and the serve is big right now on the grass.
Vesnina d. Brengle in 2 sets – Vesnina won their last match at the French Open earlier this year and is very comfortable on the grass as a former Eastbourne champ. If she stays focused, i’d be surprised if she didn’t come through. Brengle though is a tricky opponent for a lot of players!
Pliskova d. Doi in 2 sets – Doi’s got a dangerous game, but Pliskova looked awesome at times yesterday.
WTA Eastbourne R2 Predictions for Tuesday
Kvitova d. Babos in 3 sets – I’m always getting the sets wrong so we’ll go with three! Babos is having a really good year so imagine she will keep this close. Kvitova is a bit tougher mentally so still fancy her to pull through.
Wozniacki d. Stosur in 2 sets – Originally went Stosur on my Draw Challenge but after watching Woz in R1, I think i’m edging towards her in this match.
Bacsinszky d. Mladenovic in 3 sets – Impressed with Bacsinszky in practice and what she said about grass in her press conferences. Mladenovic though has many more matches on this surface in the past few weeks. Therefore gone for three, but I like Timea to win.
Vinci d. Makarova in 3 sets – Both like the grass, Vinci hasn’t played for ages so will be vulnerable, but I think time off has helped to heal any injuries and she sounded confident in press.
Petkovic d. Errani in 2 sets – Errani has won their last two matches, but this is her first match on grass and she hasn’t won since Charleston. Petkovic was streaky at times against Zheng but I think that win was a big confidence boost for her.
Vesnina d. Bencic in 3 sets – Eeek tough one, I think Bencic is recovered from the injuries but Vesnina likes grass too and looked sharp against Watson. Like both players, hope it’s a good one. Their Charleston match, which Vesnina won 6-1 6-1, doesn’t really count as Bencic was clearly injured.
Begu d. Bouchard in 3 sets – Begu was watching Petkovic’s match yesterday. This one could go either way i’d say. I was right though that the minute I went against Genie, she came good! Surprised by the nature of her R1 win over Lepchenko as the American had played some good ball in qualifying. If Bouchard keeps that form up then she’ll most likely prevail… but then again, Begu’s been one of the in-form players on tour. You can see the dilemma!
Konjuh d. Puig in 2 sets – Really like Konjuh on this surface, she looked good in qualifying. Puig’s tough though, should be an intriguing match. I want to get some photos!
Ostapenko d. Cibulkova in 3 sets – Ohhh I have to catch some of this! Cibulkova’s first match on grass, while Ostapenko is already adapted to competitive matches on grass. It will depend on Ostapenko’s attitude, she played well against Kasatkina but wasn’t focused at times with what she said on the changeover!
WTA Eastbourne R1 Predictions for Tuesday
Gavrilova d. Schmiedlova in 2 sets – Seen Schmieds on the practice court a few times. I think Gavrilova on grass, and definitely on form, should win comfortably.
Brengle d. Van Uytvanck in 3 sets – A feeling Brengle will scrap her way to a victory in this match
Hercog d. Doi in 3 sets – Hercog’s game seems quite suited to the grass but she likes her walkabouts! Doi won their last match in Rome, a tight three setter. I think Hercog but never really know!
Bondarenko d. Putintseva in 2 sets – Will try to watch this one, i’m not sure about Poots on grass. Bondarenko, much like Poots, is having an excellent year.
Lucic-Baroni d. Allertova in 3 sets – Heavy hitting battle, MLB has been in good form in Eastbourne but then I like Allertova too.
Zhang d. Tsurenko in 2 sets – Zhang in as the LL and not a bad draw!
WTA Eastbourne R1 Predictions for Monday
Makarova d. Moore in 3 sets – The home crowd might be able to help Moore in this one. Makarova hasn’t played since the French Open but some of her best results have come on grass so i’d expect her quality to show through.
Vesnina d. Watson in 3 sets – I originally went Vesnina but i’m starting to doubt that decision! Watson thrives on the home support and played a great match against Giorgi in Birmingham. Vesnina hasn’t played since the French Open, but is a former Eastbourne champion.
Petkovic d. S.Zheng in 2 sets – Petkovic played well in Birmingham but just stuttered when the win came in sight against CSN. I think Petko will come through in this match-up.
Lepchenko d. Bouchard in 3 sets – I’ve gone Bouchard as champion in the past two weeks and now i’ve gone against her… you know what’s going to happen! I was impressed with Lepchenko during the first set against Zheng yesterday (although couldn’t quite get my head around that scoreline!).
WTA Eastbourne R1 Predictions for Sunday
Wozniacki d. Cornet in 3 sets – This should be a fun one! Wozniacki has won their last five matches but they have never played before on clay. Woz is still making her comeback, while Cornet’s yet to play on grass this year. I think it’s a uncertain one, but gone for Woz in a tight three setter.
Mladenovic d. Wickmayer in 3 sets – Both players have had decent results on the grass already. I watched Mladenovic practice yesterday and was impressed so i’d give her the edge. Their last match in Montreal went to a third set tiebreak.
Babos d. Giorgi in 3 sets – Another big hitting clash, could see it going either way really. More depends on Giorgi’s level…
Ostpenko d. Kasatkina in 3 sets – My match of the day! I’ll be rooting for Kasatkina, but I think Ostapenko’s game is more suited to the grass.

These have been botched together last minute, may-be not thinking about it will make me fare better? hahaha!
