Men’s Wimbledon 2016 Predictions

Men’s Wimbledon Final Prediction for Sunday

Murray d. Raonic in 4 sets

Men’s Wimbledon SF Predictions for Friday

Raonic d. Federer in 4 sets

Murray d. Berdych in 3 sets

Men’s Wimbledon QF Predictions for Wednesday

Raonic d. Querrey in 4 sets – I was surprised by Raonic going down two sets to Goffin, but very impressive to claw his way back and tough out a five setter. Great tournament for Querrey and returning to the scene of his Djokovic triumph. Raonic to come through and he’s my tip for the final…

Federer d. Cilic in 4 sets – I think this could be close? Cilic is into yet another Wimby quarter-final. Fed hasn’t really been tested and this will be a solid test of his credentials. This is the first time they have played since the US Open semi-final match where Cilic won in straights.

Berdych d. Pouille in 4 sets – A great draw this year for Berdych and i’d be surprised if he loses this one. Pouille’s had a magnificent week having never won a match on grass prior to this tournament.

Murray d. Tsonga in 3 sets – They’ve played some fun matches at Wimby before but can’t see Murray losing this one, perhaps a set?

Men’s Wimbledon R4 Predictions for Monday

Mahut d. Querrey in 3 sets – Huge mental effort for Querrey to back up the win over Djokovic. Mahut leads the H2H, 2-0 and won their most recent encounter in Rosmalen in three sets.

Raonic d. Goffin in 3 sets – Raonic has looked in seriously good form and he’d my tip to reach the final from the top half. All their previous matches have been close but Raonic has been so clinical this tournament.

Federer d. Johnson in 3 sets – Perhaps Johnson might nick a set but i’d go for Fed who has had a dreamy draw and a dreamt schedule so far…

Cilic d. Nishikori in 4 sets – All in for Cilic here, credit to Nishikori for making the second week but in a repeat of the US Open final, Cilic is superior on the grass.

Berdych d. Vesely in 5 sets – I’m feeling a potential upset here? I don’t know, not quite brave enough to go for it but I like Vesely on grass.

Tomic d. Pouille in 4 sets – Liking Tomic here, had yet another excellent showing at Wimby.

Gasquet d. Tsonga in 4 sets – Hmmm not sure about this one, Gasquet’s not been convincing but Tsonga’s marathon win over Isner will be a tough one to recover from physically, particularly has he has been injured of late.

Murray d. Kyrgios in 4 sets – Hope it lives up to the billing, a little worried it could flop. I hope Kyrgios brings his best…

Men’s Wimbledon R3 Predictions for Saturday

Vesely d. Sousa in 4 sets – Awesome win for Vesely over Thiem and I think he will keep the upset train chugging along against Sousa.

Tomic d. Bautista Agut in 4 sets – Tomic’s had a tough route to R3 and it won’t get easier. He infuriates me with his attitude haha but I like his game on grass and I think he’ll come through this one.

Del Potro d. Pouille in 4 sets – Let’s stick with the big man! Not going to be easy…

Gasquet d. Ramos-Vinolas in 3 sets – Ramos having a great few months after reaching the QFs of RG but Gasquet for the win.

Isner d. Tsonga in 4 sets – Tsonga’s done well to reach R3 with no matches since the French Open but fancy Isner to win this one. Isner has won their last two matches but their last encounter was back in 2012.

Kyrgios d. Lopez in 4 sets – Kyrgios has never beaten Lopez before but think he’ll win this one.

Murray d. Millman in 3 sets – Muz for the win.

Zverev d. Berdych in 5 sets – All in for Zverev but I realise this may be a bit rash as he had to battle through a five setter against Youzhny across two days.

Men’s Wimbledon R3 Predictions for Friday

Djokovic d. Querrey in 3 sets – May-be one tight set or tiebreak but Djokovic for the win in straights (lol)

Mahut d. Herbert in 4 sets – Ahhh didn’t realise this was happening, doubles partners playing each other! Predicted Mahut to make R4 but still surprised by the utter beatdown he gave Ferrer. He loves the grass so think he takes this one.

Goffin d. Istomin in 4 sets – Goffin for the win but Istomin can be dangerous, expect him to win a set at least.

Raonic d. Sock in 3 sets – The first real test for Raonic, the Canadian player has won their last eight (!) matches.

Federer d. Evans in 3 sets – Another Brit for Rog!

Dimitrov d. Johnson in 5 sets – Can’t help but smile to see Dimitrov finally have some joy on a tennis court. This will be a close one I’d guess as Johnson is on a winning run from Nottingham. Dimitrov just…

Cilic d. Lacko in 3 sets – Cilic looking really good for the quarters for a third year in a row. Lacko did knock out Karlovic, but Cilic has won their two previous matches.

Nishikori d. Kuznetsov in 3 sets – Nishikori keeps plugging away and reaching the second week would be a solid achievement based on his grass exploits and injuries.

Men’s Wimbledon R2 Predictions for Friday

Wawrinka d. Del Potro in 4 sets – Some FAB men’s matches tomorrow! Rooting for Delpo all the way but just feel like Stan is good enough to exploit the Argentine’s weaknesses on the backhand side. Hope i’m proved completely wrong.

Kyrgios d. Brown in 4 sets – Another fantastic match, would have loved to see this live. Will be watching from 11am! Kyrgios for the win I think.

Berdych d. Becker in 3 sets – Berdych has had his fair share of woes this year but his draw is there for a semi-final run. I’m hoping for Berdych-Zverev R3…

Tsonga d. Monaco in 3 sets – If JWT is fit, can’t see him not winning this on grass.

Isner d. Barton in 3 sets

Zverev d. Youzhny in 4 sets – Zverev’s having a great year and he’s one of the reasons why I still am vaguely following ATP! I really want to see him have a deep run at this tournament.

Lopez d. Fognini in 4 sets – Lopez on grass

Men’s Wimbledon R2 Predictions for Wednesday/Thursday

Djokovic d. Mannarino in 3 sets

Querrey d. Bellucci in 4 sets – Querrey had a tough first rounder but Bellucci should be much more straightforward, at least on grass you’d think!

Herbert d. Dzumhur in 5 sets – What an opportunity for both players!

Mahut d. Ferrer in 4 sets – Hmmm i’m not sure about this now! Mahut on grass though…

Goffin d. Roger-Vasselin in 3 sets

Istomin d. Almagro in 5 sets – Istomin 5-0 H2H lead in Almagro was a surprise!

Sock d. Haase in 3 sets – Sock didn’t play any grass court warm-up tournaments but beat Gulbis in straights which was a promising start.

Raonic d. Seppi in 3 sets – Teetered between 3 and 4 sets, Raonic for the win.

Federer d. Willis in 3 sets – Can’t wait to watch this, would be amazing if Willis could win a set.

Dolgopolov d. Evans in 5 sets – Could be a cracker, Dolgs just.

Chardy d. Johnson in 5 sets – A toss-up, instinct goes Chardy

Simon d. Dimitrov in 4 sets – Who knows with Dimitrov, Simon is the safer pick and has done well on the grass in the past.

Cilic d. Stakhovsky in 4 sets – Hmmm Stakhovsky does like the grass but Cilic…

Karlovic d. Lacko in 3 sets

Muller d. Kuznetsov in 4 sets – Muller had a close escape, might settle him going forward if he has enough left in the tank.

Nishikori d. Benneteau in 4 sets

Men’s Wimbledon Selected R1 Predictions for Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday (!)

Thiem d. Mayer in 4 sets – Real tough one, Mayer beat Thiem in the SFs en route to winning the title. Going for Thiem in a best of five situation.

Vesely d. Sijsling in 4 sets – LIke Vesely on grass, also leads the H2H, 2-0.

Zverev d. Mathieu in 3 sets – A great draw for Zverev, hoping he can get through to a potential R4 with Thiem where i’d fancy one of them to reach the SFs.

Berdych d. Dodig in 3 sets – Dodig can be dangerous but Berdych in straights, generally recovered well since the 0-6 0-6 Goffin loss in Rome.

Tomic d. Verdasco in 4 sets – One of the highlights from the first round, never can be trusted but Tomic is at home on the grass. Tomic leads the H2H, 5-1.

Copil d. Pouille in 5 sets – Qualifiers are dangerous and Pouille hasn’t won a match since the first round of Roland Garros with a 0-2 record on grass.

Del Potro d. Robert in 3 sets – Cheering for you, DelPo.

Wawrinka d. Fritz in 3 sets – Looking forward to watching this one, a bit too soon for Fritz to be challenging here although could grab a set if Wawrinka’s flat.

Gasquet d. Bedene in 4 sets – Last year’s semi-finalist has won a match on grass this year… but should be good here.

Isner d. Baghdatis in 3 sets – Liked the upset until I noticed Isner is 6-0 in the H2H!

Kyrgios d. Stepanek in 4 sets – Could be a cracker on all levels, definitely one to watch.

Murray d. Broady in 3 sets – This should be interesting with tow Brits, straightforward for Murray.

Men’s Wimbledon Selected R1 Predictions for Monday

Djokovic d. Ward in 3 sets – Routine for Djokovic

Edmund d. Mannarino in 5 sets – This should be an interesting match, Mannarino is decent on grass (qualified for Queens and reached R3 of Nottingham) but so is Edmund. Pull of the crowd could be key.

Querrey d. Rosol in 4 sets – Rosol always dangerous on grass but Querrey perhaps a little more stable in this match-up… hmmm i’ll probably come to regret saying that haha!

Kohlschreiber d. Herbert in 3 sets – Depends on Kohlschreiber’s injury from Stuttgart/Halle but he should win this comfortably on grass if he’s fully fit.

Ferrer d. Sela in 3 sets – Ferrer beat Sela a few weeks back in Rosmalen.

Goffin d. Ward in 3 sets – Straightforward for Goffin

Roger-Vasselin d. Gabashvili in 4 sets – Like the qualifier in this one.

Anderson d. Istomin in 4 sets – Anderson is 2-0 in the H2H and is beginning to improve his form.

Sock d. Gulbis in 4 sets – First match on grass for Sock but give him the edge.

Raonic d. Carreno Busta in 3 sets – Straightforward for Raonic

Federer d. Pella in 3 sets – Good opener for Fed

Evans d. Struff in 5 sets – Could be a humdinger.

Monfils d. Chardy in 5 sets – Potential upset alert with Monfils not having played since Rome and Chardy having made the last 16 at Wimbledon in 2014. Monfils owns the H2H though, 3-0 and has never dropped a set.

Fratangelo d. Dimitrov in 5 sets – Who knows with Grigor? Hasn’t won since Istanbul and Fratangelo will have confidence from qualifying.

Cilic d. Baker in 3 sets – A great draw for Cilic, looks a good chance to reach QFs for the third consecutive year.

Stakhovsky d. Nishioka in 5 sets – Nice looking match on grass, Stakhovsky won handily in Halle.

Karlovic d. Coric in 3 sets – Don’t really fancy Coric on grass and Karlovic can be lethal on the serve.

Nishikori d. Groth in 4 sets – Worried for Nishikori and his injury.
