Thoughts…
Omg this was so difficult 😂. Despite Barty being one of the faves, it still feels very risky. I don’t know if she’s fully fit. I was encouraged to see her practising and her press conference was positive. I quite like Barty’s first few rounds on paper and I think she might be able to play her way into the tournament drawing on all her match wins so far this year.
There are so many matches that I struggled to pick a winner for in the first quarter. In the end, I had Kontaveit sweeping up. I’m wary about Azarenka’s injury from Bad Homburg. I don’t know enough about Andreescu on grass. I still don’t trust Ostapenko despite her excellent run in Eastbourne.
The Bencic-Gauff-Serena-Kerber section is tough! I went for Kerber in the end and just had an instinct over Serena, I can’t explain it. The winner of the potential Muchova-Giorgi second rounder makes it far IMO. If Muchova’s healthy, big if, then I think she’s going to deep.
I really like Keys’s draw on paper and that she has actually played a few matches on grass prior to Wimby. You know I love Petra but just had an instinct for Keys over Kvitova in the quarters.
I wanted to go for Sabalenka but just not convinced. I don’t think I will ever have the nerve to pick her to a Slam final or win it unless she actually goes and does it. I think Swiatek will be solid but don’t see her as a contender. I’ve got Muguruza going far but depends on her health really. She’s been injury-prone since Charleston. I like Rybakina in the bottom half BUT AGAIN, injuries.
