What are the best tennis podcasts?

I wrote this post about two months ago, but completely forgot about it what with grass and Wimbledon and general tennis festivities.  I have become hooked on tennis podcasts over the last couple of months.  When I am stuck at work, podcasts have helped me get through many a long day! I thought it would be nice to write an alternative post about my three favourite tennis podcasts out there in case you’ve never heard of them…

No Challenges Remaining

The first podcast I started listening to and still my favourite today is No Challenges Remaining by two journalists, Courtney Nguyen and Ben Rothenberg.  The real selling point of NCR is their access at tournaments, which gives an insight into the tennis world that most tennis fans don’t get the chance to see.  Not only have they had some great interviews with players such as Andrea Petkovic, Madison Keys and Alize Cornet, but they talk about the tournaments they visit and often include snippets from press conferences.

It’s always a thoroughly entertaining listen because Courtney and Ben are never afraid to share their opinions.  Although they have discussed that as journalists, they can’t really have favourites anymore, it’s clear to see who they like and dislike.  If you love Andrea Petkovic, this is the podcast for you.   However if you are a fan of David Ferrer or Sabine Lisicki, beware! You might not enjoy this podcast.  Putting that aside, this is the best tennis podcast out there and is definitely worth a follow.

Tennis Days with Dave Gertler

I’ve been listening to this tennis podcast  since Feburary, which is hosted in Australia by Dave Gertler featuring regular guest, Matt Johnson.  In the last couple of months, they have previewed many tennis draws.  In particular, their focus and thoughts on Australian tennis are fascinating; with Kyrgios’s run at Wimbledon and Tomic never being far away from the headlines (this week for something good!), it’s always interesting to hear how tennis is received in Australia.  Dave and Matt have a good chemistry and it’s a very well produced podcast.

Hosted by Jeff Sackmann and Amy Fetherolf, this is the most consistent and regular podcast posting every week (always without fail) reviewing what’s happened in the tennis week and previewing new draws for the week ahead.  I also enjoy their discussions about Challenger draws, often focussing on the American players, which is an area of tennis that I don’t follow in great detail.   They also have a number of guests, many of who have interesting insights into tennis such as fellow bloggers or people involved in tennis statistics.

There are many podcasts out there, but these are the three i’ve been following religiously for the past few months.  Another one I started listening to was the Tennis Podcast hosted by David Law and Catherine Whitaker.  They have some great interviews, but the podcast focuses mainly on the ATP and their attempts at trying to predict the Wimbledon finalists in the womens draw without knowing the draw were a little embarrassing.  Tennis.com also do a podcast, which i’ve only just begun listening too.  If you are bored at work and feel like you are missing out on tennis, then why not try a tennis podcast…
